I did not really our lovely cottage lacked nothing, but now there is a swimming pool for, and I must say that it just looks SO good.
I usually well to mention our cottage Bugi Island, but now it is turned into a complete resort, so now it must surely be named Bugi Island Resort. I created a logo and printed bath mats, and writing, I started to draw some towels to press for “resort”.
The swimming pool was this summer's project (= All my husband's vacation), but nice is it really been, I am very impressed, both above the final result, and how diligently he has weather. I also think there was a bit more work in all the tree editing than he had first anticipated. Fortunately, the pool has already been used extensively this summer, and we have been visited by many children, and the kid now have almost learned to swim.
I started the course project examining models and prices and found a freestanding pool from Spanish GRE. The negotiated several places, but for quite different prices. It is available in a version with and without the "support" side. When we had to dig the halfway during our terrace, we agreed to This model without "support" was probably the easiest model to work with. We chose size 7,3 m x 3,75 m and 132 cm in height (water height around 125 cm).
I took me to the website PoolOasen where we ended up being get a REALLY GOOD overall package price at pool, summer- and winter cover, groundcover vacuum cleaner, net, and chemicals. And very fortunate, is their stock in Skibby, conveniently close to Orø where our cottage is located. Our pool is this model.
We didn't just get a really good price from Anja who has PoolOasen, but also super service and guidance throughout. We had continuous questions about everything, when we set up the pool. The first place I called said incidentally that one could easily put such a pool in one day, but it fits therefore not. There is some preliminary work in the leveling of the ground. I would recommend that you hire a Bobcat to processed, even if it is to be buried. The pool itself may well assemble and screw together in a day. and think, it takes over a day to fill it with water, it's nicely many liters of water 🙂
We got Orø local Peter Pedersen to dig the hole and align the bottom of. He also helped to place side stiffeners. It is as I said very important that the bottom is 100% horizontally when you put up the pool. We dropped to isolate the hard foam in the bottom, since it would take 'of water depth, but we have laid insulation boards around the pool's sides before we covered the hole.
When the pool was collected my husband started to build the terrace upstairs. He had already started to break some of the existing terrace up, so the pool could get under.
There were some constructions and calculations to get it all to fit around the pool. The construction is supported by plinth stones. There have been steps along the side, and at the end an extra terrace when we have evening there, but it also provides ample space for sun loungers and hammock. Now we just hope on a great summer next year, so we can sit in our lounge chairs and enjoy the sun and water.

But now that it's dark at night, it now also very good with light in the pool (waterproof magnetic diode lamps we have set up on the inside of the pool).
Update:
One thing you MUST have is a pool vacuum cleaner, ours is christened Kevin and it even runs around and cleans the bottom, so the pool always looks good. I don't think you can have a pool without it.
Holding the pool has been incredibly easy, we drive with chlorine tablets where we leave it in the bag and only cut off the corners, then it lasts longer and we don't get too much chlorine in it. The pump is set to run 6 times a day. We have replaced sand in the pump with filter balls so as not to get sand in the pool.
After a couple of years we put on a heat pump that can raise the temperature, it is both good at the start and end of the season, but also makes the children stay longer in the water during the summer. The heat pump is also purchased from PoolOasen .
The filter pump uses approx 0.5 Kwh per hour and the heat pump uses approx 5 Kwh pr time. The new heat pumps are probably more efficient, ours is a few years old.
We also had for a couple of years an old roller coaster from a playground set up, but this year, it's peeled down, as it is very narrow.
We used the ladder that came with the pool for it.

I have been recommended to mold around the edge. How to keep your pages without casting?
We do not have any problems, ours is partly buried as you can see and so the terrace built over. We have wood studs around but do not know where you were casting ? there's also an edge at the top that keeps the metal from the pool. May I ask you a question about your terrace ? I must have made a similar solution as you have with a wooden terrace around the pool. But I am a little uncertain how to attach the boards properly over the pool edge. And how do you do when you have to change the liner at some point?
Can also see that you have filled up soil along the pool without a retaining wall? Can the steel wall hold the weight off the ground when emptying the pool of water, when you need to change the liner at some point ?

The boards are not stuck on the pool but are over and then a wooden edge is made inside, that covers a bit around the look.
If you have to change the liner once, then you must probably peel the terrace boards off I think.
We have 65 cm underground and 65 There is also insulation about, but I don't think the earth is pressing in, usually the pool is above ground with a large water pressure from inside, we also have the steel profiles.
We started the season a few weeks ago…for 2 years ago we also got a heat pump which in the summer can just raise it a few degrees so you can be for a longer time and from we opened a few weeks ago where it was VERY cold 9-10 degrees it is now 24 degrees….and before you ask, here is an answer to consumption, I have just answered the one I know and a neighbor the same, The pump uses 0,5 kw per hour and it runs 6 hours a day here ie 6 hours a day…the heat pump uses 4,5 kw
and as I wrote in my post we have bought everything from PoolOasen which has various packages and really good service…and Nb! A bottom vacuum cleaner is a must to keep it neat, we just have that little model (it's christened Kevin).

We have used superWood boards (which are not pressure-impregnated and greenish, because they use a different kind of treatment) but they no longer make them, think they had some quality issues….
Sounds like you enjoy it. We are going today with our excavation. The pool is booked. And then the terrace must be made afterwards. Which tree did you use for patio boards??

Your sides around the pool with flamingo – it works well enough ? The earth does not hit the basin ??
What is that for? “betonstolper” You use to hold the terrace? And did you cast them into the ground?
Did you fill ground on the patio or stop where you can see it in the pictures?
It works well with flamingo all around, and no it does not print. The concrete pillars are called the pillars, and they are not cast, but stands but a garden tile laid on a stable surface. No there is no soil on the terrace, it is an extension of another terrace from the house and so be it 2 step down to the lawn, but no soil beneath.

Can't remember what we gave….we got dug and leveled the bottom. One of my colleagues is running now, but they dig in the hand, so you can also do this if you have patience and want exercise 🙂

The boards that lie above the pool edge – how wide they are??
After all, as I see it in the picture, they have to reach all the way from the underlying stream to the edge of the pool. That's not how you made it?
Havd is the width of the other boards you have used??

Everything is ordinary patio boards, 97 cm them around the edge lies on a lath. ? A tree shell has been built up of laths that go into the basin edge, it does not rest on the edge but the skeleton stands by itself, a self-supporting wood construction.
Hi. It looks really delicious. Just got a question about cover / winter cover. When the boards now go over the pool edge how to put the cover on? We just bought a pool and are finding out if the wooden terrace should be underneath “the white edge of the pool” or go over like yours. We are most inclined towards a solution like yours. But then there is just that with the cover how you get it on? Mvh Tomas
We just have a cheap black cover, we stretch it out and think my husband has slipped some wooden boards over the upholstery in the sides in winter. But you can't put it on the white border anyway ?
Hi. Thanks for reply. We did not buy any cover, so do not know how to fix it. Thought it went beyond the white edges with some kind of elastic. But work fine with having it on the wooden boards, in the winter. In other words, the top of the terrace is screwed? Can dirt get in from the side when it does not go all the way down to the white edge.

It sits down on the side of the pool under the terrace…it has cost 12.000 kr but my husband says that the new ones are almost twice as effective, ours is shown 1:6 and now they are 1:12 …would have attached a picture but I can not here.

No, we do not empty the pool, we empty the water out to under the skimmer every fall around the fall break, puts winter chemistry in and puts black plastic on top

I’m planning to do a copy of your setup. Do you recall how deep you went into the ground?
People advices me against it as they claim the soil will over time push in on the pool and deform it. Why in-the-ground-pools need casting all the way around it. Have you had any issues with digging it in?

Incredibly beautifully made. We are working on the same project ourselves and have now had to make the wooden terrace. However, we find it difficult to see how to finish over the edge? I can see that others have asked about it, but I hope you have more pictures or will spend some time describing how you have supported/fixed the edge around the pool, i.e. just above the pool edge.
