Very functional and durable lunchbox system

I share this and hope that others can get just as much pleasure from the MonBento lunch boxes as we have had for the last 3 years. I know well, not all can be just as lucky as us, that they can get their child/children to make their own packed lunches each morning, but you never know 🙂 – I've posted some examples in a post here

When my boy (nicknamed BUGI) started in school in 2012, I wanted to start with a special and delicious lunch box “culture”. I know he prefers leftover from the day before for ryebread sandwiches. And when I was in Japan for many years ago I bought a lunchbox in two layers, I even love and often used for food. So I was looking on the net for Japanese Bento boxes, and found the French system MonBento (inspired from japan). Madkassen is really nice quality and does not contain phthalates.

when it was worn out and I had to buy a new, I found out that the first square model we had was discontinued, and instead had been an oblong model in two layers (that fit much better into the bag), and that I could actually buy them much cheaper in Denmark with Manillo, You can see the lunch boxes here. If you want one of the sold-out colors, try to write to them, they tend to be very nice about taking stuff home, and I know they are in the process of getting much more stuff.

We have gradually invested in 3 set with 2 layer in each, for my boy has a very good appetite, and usually he has 4 layer with, but sometimes 5 layer. We also like to have an extra layer that is purely for today's dinner, so for us, it is fine to have 3 set. However, I think most can settle for less :). I have sewn a bag for madkassen of a nylon gym bag with DrawString top, and the rubber band is from the old square box. You have to run with as many boxes as us, You should probably sew two of the rubber bands together that comes with a 2 layer lunchbox 🙂

Our system is simply, a layer we fill we with leftovers from dinner and put in the refrigerator, the other layers is with fruit and vegetables and small snacks. We make pizza or burgers, I always make a few small pizzas that fits in size or an oblong burger bun. We have not eaten at home, He either get a roll, something crisp bread or something we cook pasta in the morning. He'd much rather have these things, even though he can not heat the food in school (The lunch box works with both microwave and dishwasher).

Since 1. class, he has even stood for all fruit and vegetable layers, He stands up even at 6.15 and begin, and break open to wash and carve and make it all clear. I think after all his lunches almost are works of art and have posted a lot in the next post. It is also nice easy for us (his parents) for he has almost made it all before we got up. He's very aware of what he eats, and also a little “prissy” If an avocado is the wrong color, or wind ruerne not quite hard so he won't eat them, but I think it's good to be aware of what you put in your mouth :).
